About medicine specialists in Bangladesh
A medicine specialist (physician) looks after adults with illnesses that do not need surgery. In Bangladesh, a medicine specialist usually holds an FCPS (Medicine), MD (Internal Medicine) or MRCP, and is often the first specialist a patient sees when the cause of a problem is not yet clear.
Medicine specialists manage fever, diabetes, high blood pressure, infections and many long-term conditions, and refer patients to the right sub-specialist (cardiologist, neurologist, nephrologist and others) when needed. For many families, a trusted medicine specialist is the doctor they return to year after year.

How to choose the right medicine specialist
Qualifications: Medicine specialists in Bangladesh usually hold FCPS (Medicine), MD (Internal Medicine), MRCP (UK) or FRCP. Each doctor's degrees are shown on their profile above.
Registration: every MBBS and BDS doctor must be registered with the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). You can check a doctor's registration number on the BMDC website.
Hospital and chamber: a medicine specialist attached to a medical college or large hospital has easy access to tests and admission if you need them. For regular follow-up, a chamber close to home with convenient visiting hours often matters just as much.
Experience with your problem: many specialists have a special interest within their field. Read the designation and degrees on each profile, and ask at the first visit how often the doctor treats your condition.

Getting an appointment
Most medicine specialists in Bangladesh see patients by serial at their chamber. Each profile on HealthCareBD shows the chamber name, address and visiting days and hours; doctors who have verified their profile also show their serial number and a WhatsApp booking button. Serials for popular specialists often fill up a day or more in advance, so book early, arrive a little before your time, and bring your previous prescriptions, test reports and the medicines you are currently taking.
