About nutritionists in Bangladesh
A nutritionist or dietitian gives personalised advice on what to eat to manage a health condition or improve wellbeing. Diet is a key part of treatment for diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, pregnancy, and children who are not gaining weight.
In Bangladesh, clinical nutritionists usually have a BSc/MSc in Food and Nutrition or Clinical Nutrition and work with doctors at hospitals and diagnostic centres. Bring your recent blood reports and medicine list so the diet plan fits your treatment.

What does a nutritionist treat?
- Diet for diabetes and high blood pressure
- Kidney and liver disease diets
- Healthy weight loss or weight gain
- Nutrition in pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Child nutrition and growth
- Diet for PCOS and thyroid disease
When should you see a nutritionist?
- Your doctor advises a special diet
- You want to lose or gain weight safely
- A child is not gaining weight as expected
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding and unsure what to eat
Common tests a nutritionist may order
- Weight, height and BMI
- Blood sugar, lipid and kidney tests (from your doctor)
Bring previous reports to your appointment. Recent tests done at another reputable centre are often accepted, which can save you time and money.
How to choose the right nutritionist
Qualifications: Nutritionists in Bangladesh usually hold BSc/MSc in Food & Nutrition or Clinical Nutrition; some are MBBS doctors with nutrition training. Each doctor's degrees are shown on their profile above.
Registration: every MBBS and BDS doctor must be registered with the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). You can check a doctor's registration number on the BMDC website.
Hospital and chamber: a nutritionist attached to a medical college or large hospital has easy access to tests and admission if you need them. For regular follow-up, a chamber close to home with convenient visiting hours often matters just as much.
Experience with your problem: many specialists have a special interest within their field. Read the designation and degrees on each profile, and ask at the first visit how often the doctor treats your condition.
Hospitals and centres with several nutritionists
- Uttara Crescent Hospital — 3 nutritionists
- BRB Hospitals Limited — 2 nutritionists
- Cardio Care Nutrition & Dietetics Center — 2 nutritionists
Getting an appointment
Most nutritionists in Bangladesh see patients by serial at their chamber. Each profile on HealthCareBD shows the chamber name, address and visiting days and hours; doctors who have verified their profile also show their serial number and a WhatsApp booking button. Serials for popular specialists often fill up a day or more in advance, so book early, arrive a little before your time, and bring your previous prescriptions, test reports and the medicines you are currently taking.
